#The problem
A terminal timer sounds simple until it needs to be dependable in real workflows: durations should be quick to type, the countdown must stay readable as the terminal changes size, alarms need to work across platforms, and exiting should always restore the terminal cleanly.
#What we built
clck is a Rust CLI that accepts simple durations such as 45s, 10m, 1h30m, or explicit clock-style input. It automatically selects a fitting ASCII font, reacts to terminal resizing, supports configurable system or custom sounds, and can trigger desktop notifications.
#Distribution and documentation
The project is published as an open-source Rust crate and has its own documentation site.
cargo install clck --locked
#Why it matters
clck is a compact example of product engineering around a narrow workflow: cross-platform behavior, terminal UX, packaging, release automation, documentation, and distribution all need to work together for a small utility to feel finished.
